Liam Cockcroft

Liam likes to make pictures. He is an amateur photographer, filmmaker and illustrator. Artists that inspire him most include Roger Ballen, Grimes, Billy Monk, William Kentridge and Thom Yorke. He is currently in his final year at film school and aims for a career in cinematography.

I have always enjoyed telling stories through images. My favourite pastime is film photography, which has taught me so much about image-making and the basics of exposure, composition and colour control.

At City Varisty, I did a very practical course in cinematography and editing. I achieved the “Best Cinematographer” award, given by my lecturers, every year during my 3-year course. My time at City Varsity has given me fair experience in operating cinema cameras like the ARRI Alexa XT and lighting with professional equipment.

I’m always willing to learn and continuously working on improving the skills that I’ve accumulated.
